McWane, KC&A leadership share industry best practices with AFS stakeholders
August 7, 2024
As a well-established and highly engaged member of American Foundry Society (AFS), McWane Inc. is often invited to consult on important topics – from industry policies and regulations to training and best practices. Recently, McWane Health & Safety VP Mickey Hannum and McWane Plumbing Group Executive VP Tony Orlowski joined forces with Dr. Ken Chapman, Founder and Senior Partner of Ken Chapman & Associates, Inc. to share their insights with the metal casting community.
The leadership team hosted Safety Beyond the Numbers, a three-part foundry-focused webinar series aimed at exploring how purposefully defining and building an ownership-mindset workplace culture, beyond just compliance, can drive improved safety performance and business success. Illustrating the limitations of compliance only safety training, the series contrasted behaviors in an ownership culture versus a compliance culture, demonstrating how people can change outlook and behavior, like rejecting safety shortcuts as a badge of honor.
The series outlined the steps for transforming a culture to reflect core values while focusing on the roles of comfort, competence, confidence and trust. Furthermore, the series underscored how team member engagement shapes and impacts safety performance and the importance of building an ownership culture through developing relationships, establishing trust and exemplifying principles, values and behaviors.
Our sincerest thanks to these leaders for taking the time to share these instrumental learnings while showcasing The McWane Way principle of Leadership across the broader industry.
