Manchester Tank implements new team recognition program

Manchester Tank has implemented a new program designed to recognize team members that participate in high-impact projects or teams. Manchester wants to foster a culture that values openness, trust and teamwork and promotes inclusion, leadership and growth. In parallel, they also want to develop an organization with the capability to profitably grow, the skills to plan and execute at a high level and the integrity to consistently deliver on commitments.
We are pleased to announce the first quarter winners of the Manchester Tank Find a Better Way Award:
Elkhart (pictured bottom left) – Low Flow #1 and #2, REBA score improvements (Keith Wells, Tim Wells, Tylon Lee, Eric Babin, David Garcia and Tony Peyla targeted improvements throughout the plant to reduce hand/wrist and trunk position injuries)
Quincy, Illinois (pictured bottom right) – Pad Forming Die (Eric Warfield, Nathan Hayes, Mark Speckhart, Steve Reynolds, Mike Epping, Richie Uppinghouse, Steve Lehenbauer and Scott Bowen improved the process for forming pads to an ergonomically safer process that can produce three times the product in the same amount of time)
Crossville, Tennessee (pictured middle left) – Compressed Air Evacuator (Marlan “Marty” Bryan devised a tool that increases the filter life on the Optiflow Power Injector to approximately 4 times longer than normal)
Franklin, Tennessee/Echuca, Australia (pictured middle left)– ACH Bank payment functionality within Manfact (Team members Jennifer Lyda, Gavin Hore and Mike Lurty reduced the ACH processing time from 5 hours/week to 1 hour/week; reduced the check processing time from 8 hours/week to 1 hour/week; and improved check processing savings from $350/week > $50/week)
Franklin, Tennessee (pictured top right) – Franklin hotel corporate rate (Rose Higgins negotiated a corporate hotel rate resulting in an estimated annual savings of $10,000)
While there are many impactful individual and team efforts in a given quarter, the quarterly Find a Better WayAward is designed to recognize individuals and teams that demonstrate these values and priorities over the prior three month period. Criteria for the Find a Better WayAward is focused on the impact of the initiative and actions that deliver significant, lasting benefits during the year. The award also focuses on projects that demonstrate excellence in productivity, customer focus, promote safety and quality, continuous operations improvement, drive growth in target markets and applications, and provide examples of innovative thinking, cross-functional teamwork and leadership.
Winners will be selected on an annual basis from each plant to represent the best Find a Better Way project for each plant and across Manchester Tank. Each team member receives $50 for the quarterly award and the team members that are selected for the annual award at each plant will receive $1,000.
